We’ve been using this throw on the couch for movie watching, but it’s also a great one to keep by the door if you need something cozy for sitting around the campfire!.

First of all, and maybe most exciting of all, is the fact that this room is now completely structurally sound.It used to be a porch that was closed in when it was already starting to sag off of the house, but now it’s completely strong, sturdy, and level.

This is also  now a fully indoor space that can be used comfortably all year round, so that’s going to be huge for us.. To hold up the new roof, Chris installed a new beam and he also re-worked the rafters, so we’re actually going to be gaining a few inches of ceiling height.. Where We’re at With the Mudroom Project Right Now.As I speak right now, the walls are in, which you can see here, but we’ve also installed the windows and the entry door since we took these photos!.Out next steps are to install new soffits and then insulate the walls and the ceiling.

And then of course there will eventually be some pretty design elements going into the space, once we get all of the necessary stuff taken care of..It may seem pretty bare-bones now, but when you start out with a hole in the ground, even a basic structure like this is pretty exciting!

If you’ve ever lived in a 120 year old house, then you totally know what I’m talking about.

I can’t wait to have this space open to the kitchen and to just walk in here to put some mittens or a winter hat away without even thinking about it.. Have you ever taken on an addition or a mudroom project like this in your home?.During that time, I was super-insistent on really high cleanliness and organization standards at all times.

I went to other stores to help them improve their own cleanliness.In fact, one of the people that I hired and trained went on to the national Barista championships (yes that’s a thing) and got the top marks in.
